Pregnancy Glow or Woe?

t’s so interesting to hear and listen to the pregnancy journey of so many moms. It’s particularly interesting to hear stories of those who claim pregnancy was “easy,” “best time of their lives,” “can’t wait to do it again” versus those who “hated it,” “made me fat and ugly” and “never again” types.

Often times, energy and thoughts tend to flip for moms who are pregnant the second time around.

Either way it’s such an amazing gift to be able to share such stories. It’s not the simplest job but a job that’s worth the work.

Gender Reveals Have Become the New Normal

When did gender reveals become the new popular kid in school?? Social media has shown us that gender reveals are on the rise and have created a new platform of creativity when it comes to revealing the gender of baby boy or girl on the way.

Gender reveals are no longer a simple phone call to mom saying “its a girl!” It has now become voting/detective work/anxiety filled production! Families are inviting loved ones over for a party where they reveal the sex of the baby via colored balloons out a box, having their local bakery create a pink or blue masterpiece, filling athletic balls with pink or blue powder, and more recently a Ferris wheel being lit up at a local carnival in the color pink or blue! Need I say more. Originality is everything to some couples who are expecting.

What were some ways you revealed your baby’s gender?

Are Baby Showers Getting Out of Hand?

Baby showers have seem to become the second biggest event for families after a wedding. They are no longer a simple family gathering where only the women closest to the mom to be, open gifts and play cheesy games. These days, showers are planned to a tee. It is more popularly a coed event ~ and the dads, grandads, uncles and other male family members and friends join in for the festivities. When did baby showers become such a big deal? And why? Well I’m sure many people will agree that this type of event can be lots of fun with the right tools- from what the mom to be is wearing down to the cutesy colored themed shower based on the baby’s sex. The creativity of baby showers are endless!

Some cultures believe that having a shower after the baby is born is more suitable for mom and baby.  However, it has been more popular for moms to throw a party for baby 1 month or two before baby arrives. Perhaps it is a fun way to prepare for baby with all the wonderful (and expensive) gifts that will be provided by friends and loved ones.

What are your thoughts on baby showers? Too much? Or Very necessary?
